Angela Mazur & Theresa Nygren
Angela Mazur, LCSW, LLC is a psychotherapist and a Mindfulness teacher in Farmington, CT. She holds a masters degree in Social Work with a concentration in group work, a masters degree in Counseling, and has been trained in the Mindful Schools and the Mindful Self-Compassion curriculums. Her 30 years of experience includes non-profit agencies, psychiatric clinics, school systems and the past 15 years a private practice.
She integrates mindfulness into her psychotherapy practice, has taught mindfulness in elementary schools and co-leads Mindful Self-Compassion Groups with Theresa Nygren, LCSW. To support her mindfulness practice, she practices mindfulness daily and attends meditation retreats and conferences. Mindfulness is an integral part of her life which brings her much joy and peace.
Theresa Nygren, LCSW has been in the field of Social Work for over 37 years. Her career began as an outpatient substance abuse clinician at a facility for women in the Northend of Hartford. She has accumulated further experience by being Farmington’s Social Worker for almost 28 years. Throughout this time period, Theresa also had a private practice in Avon where she specialized in providing groups for compulsive overeaters. For the past nine years, she has sustained a private practice in Farmington, specializing in anxiety, depression, grief/loss, life transition issues. She meets every person with an open heart and brings a wealth of skills to craft the right kind of therapy for each client’s unique needs.
Throughout her professional path, Theresa has always been willing to learn and grow and expand her foundational skills as a therapist and Social Worker. She has participated in several years of training in both Gestalt Therapy and Sensorimotor Therapy. Additionally she has been trained to facilitate MBSR and MSC groups. Theresa has incorporated mindfulness into her individual therapy work and into group work by offering Mindful Self Compassion groups. Theresa recently completed a Let your yoga dance training and plans on incorporating this offering into upcoming workshops and classes.
She believes in the wholeness of each person and feels honored to step on her client’s path as they collaborate in the healing work together.
Theresa nourishes herself by her love of the great outdoors. Biking, hiking, walking and adventuring around this country and beyond, allows her to keep refreshed and ready to take her therapy seat. She lives the principles she teaches, making sure she takes adequate time for meditation and overall good self care.
